Treading Air Original Surreal Painting

Treading Air is an original painting about trying so hard to get somewhere and somehow staying in exactly the same place.

It’s that quicksand feeling you get in dreams when you’re trying to run, but your body won’t move fast enough. You can see where you want to go. You’re putting everything into getting there. And somehow, you’re still stuck.

I painted Treading Air from that feeling of working toward something you desperately want while progress feels painfully, impossibly slow.

The bright colors and surreal imagery turn that frustration into something you can actually see. This is the original painting, not a reproduction, and there is only one.
